Theodore Zahariades
Dr. Theodore Zahariadis He received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, and his Dipl.-Ing. degree in Computer and Software Engineering from the University of Patras, Greece. Currently, he is the Technical Coordinator of the FP7 ICT projects AWISSENET, SEA and BeyWatch, the coordinator of the Network Audiovisual Group 1: Media Delivery Cluster and chairs the Media Content Group activities of the EU Future Internet Assembly. He is also member of the EU Future Internet and 3D Media Task Force and participates as an expert in the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA). Since 1994, he has participated in many ACTS (AMUSE, ADHOC, DOLMEN), ESPRIT (NOTE, INFOGATE, BC3) and IST (ADAMAS, WINMAN, MobileIN, ASTRALS) projects. His research interests are in the fields of broadband wireline/ wireless/ mobile communications, secure sensor networks, interactive service deployment over IP networks, embedded systems, and multimedia home networks. Dr. Zahariadis has published more than 30 papers in magazines and journals, more than 60 conference papers, 1 book and 3 chapters in published books. He has been a reviewer and principal guest editor in many IEEE and ACM journals and magazines and he is a Technical Editor of the IEEE Wireless Communications Magazine. Since 2001, he is an evaluator of IST proposals and reviewer/rapporteur in many IST projects. He is a member of the IEEE, the ACM and the Technical Chamber of Greece.
Filippos C. Antonopoulos
Filippos graduated from Columbia University in New York, with a dual degree in Astronomy and Economics, following which he joined Bear Stearns & Co. as a financial analyst in Capital Markets, focusing on Technology, Media and Telecom. In 2005 he moved to Buenos Aires to work for Intralot S.A.’s Business Development, covering Argentina, Brazil and Peru. He then joined the e-Services department, responsible for new media gaming, licensing and regulatory frameworks. In 2007 he co-founded Vermantia Media Group, serving as business development director. Vermantia is an integrated services provision group, producing, delivering, and supporting interactive TV content & applications, focusing on sports betting and fixed-odds games. Vermantia acts as a one-stop shop for content aggregation, production, broadcast and technological integration.
Emannouil Kafetzakis
Emmanouil Kafetzakis received his B.Sc. degree in Informatics and Telecommunications from the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications, University of Athens, Athens Greece, in 2002 and his M.Sc. degree in Communication and Network Systems from the same Department in 2004. Since 2005, he is working towards his Ph.D. thesis. His research interests include resource management, performance analysis and provision of QoS in WLANs. He is an associate lecturer at the Business College of Athens (BCA) and at the Technical University of Piraeus, teaching modules related to Information Technology.
Costas Troulos
Costas Troulos is an independent Business Consultant. Since 2006 he has been working with PCN Greece (http://www.pcngreece.com) on telecom infrastructure and technology projects. Next to PCN Greece, he is a Research Associate with NETMODE/NTUA lab (http://www.netmode.ntua.gr) since 2005. From 2003 to 2005, he was the Technical Director of Vivodi Telecom (http://www.vivodi.gr). Overall, he has a 12 years business and academic experience in the Telecom and IT sector where he served in various positions. His area of expertise involves fiber investments, municipal broadband projects, next generation access networks and broadband business models. He is an Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and he holds an MBA from Louisville University, US. Harilaos Koumaras
Harilaos Koumaras was born in Athens, Greece in 1980. He received his BSc degree in Physics in 2002 from the University of Athens, Physics Department, his MSc in Electronic Automation and Information Systems in 2004, being scholar of the non-profit organization Alexander S Onassis, from the University of Athens, Physics and Informatics Department and his PhD in 2007 on digital video quality prediction from the University of Athens, Informatics Department, having granted the four-year scholarship of NCSR "Demokritos". He has received twice the Greek State Foundations (IKY) scholarship during the academic years 2000-01 and 2003-04. He has also granted with honors the classical piano and harmony degrees from the classical music department of Attiko Conservatory. He joined the Digital Telecommunications Lab at the National Centre of Scientific Research "Demokritos" in 2003 and since then he has participated in EU-funded and national funded projects with presentations and publications at international conferences, scientific journals and book chapters. At the same time, he is an associate lecturer at the Business College of Athens (BCA), teaching modules related to Information Technology, Data Networks and Mathematics. His research interests include objective/subjective evaluation of the perceived quality of multimedia services, video quality and picture quality evaluation, video traffic modeling, digital terrestrial television and video compression techniques. Currently, he is the author or co-author of more than 30 scientific papers in international journals, technical books and book chapters, numbering 39 non-self citations.
Evangelos Pallis
Dr. Evangelos Pallis received his BEng in Electronic Engineering from the Technological Educational Institute of Crete, Greece, in 1994, his MSc in Telecommunications from University of East London, UK, in 1997, and his PhD in Telecommunications from the same university, in 2002. Currently, he is working as an Assistant Professor in Wireless Telecommunications and Digital Television in the Applied Informatics and Multimedia department of ATEI of Crete, and as a Research Associate both at the Centre for Technological Research of Crete and at the Institute of Informatics and Telecommunications, in NCSR 'Demokritos'. His research interests are in the fields of multimedia applications, broadband wireless networks and distribution systems, digital interactive television, convergent services infrastructures exploiting P2P and IMS. He has participated in a number of EU-funded research and development projects within the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th IST/ICT R&D framework. He has more than 50 publications in international journals referred conference publications. He is member of the IEE/IET.
